Many thanks to all the reviewers who have helped the production of the BJGP this year by giving freely of their time and expertise. Like all the other journals that publish peer-reviewed research, the quality of what we publish rests almost solely on this group and we owe them huge debt of gratitude. How we repay that debt is a tricky question. Listing the names as we do here every year is sincere but seems meagre, and we recently discussed at an Editorial Board meeting what else we could do. For the foreseeable future we won't be able to pay for each review supplied, but we could offer a small number of rewards for those deemed to have provided the best service in the year (however judged). We thought of having a party once a year, but the panel of reviewers is spread across the whole country, and many would not want to come to London for a few hours of College wine & canapés. We wondered if we could contribute to continuing education, and whether anybody already includes reviewing as part of their portfolio of activity for appraisal. Would there be any takers or a study day on critical reading and peer review? We should very much like to hear from you if you have any thoughts about these ideas, or any others that we could consider. Meanwhile …. Very many thanks. We mean it.
