Authors wishing to submit an article to the BJGP can now do so online, through AllenTrack, a web-based software program. AllenTrack also enables referees to access the articles online and submit their reviews through the system.
The advantages of an online system include shorter reviewing times, due to a reduction in the administration process, and the ability for authors to track the path of their papers through the system actively, rather than awaiting communication from the Journal.
Via AllenTrack, authors can enter the details of all participating authors, update addresses, upload the manuscript and figure files, add updated files, and view the electronic manuscript page proofs.
Authors who do not have internet access can continue to submit their manuscripts via the post, whereupon the editorial staff can pose as the author and enter the manuscript into AllenTrack.
Reviewers are sent an email inviting them to review a particular paper, and on acceptance they are emailed a link enabling them to view or download the manuscript, select reviewer recommendations, and enter or copy-and-paste comments.
AllenTrack is available from any internet-connected computer, on any operating system and any platform, anywhere in the world.
