This article talks about stigma associated with branding someone overweight, however fails to address or even bury the problem related to high BMI. As GPs we now have skills in having a challenging consultation in a non-judgemental way and I believe we must address the weight management issue as needed. This is not against the ethical principle of doing no harm.
In fact, taking measures in reducing the health burden to the society and making health system function efficiently to all the people is an important ethical principle to be practised be all health professionals. Holistic care is possible even when considering population health management.
