Dr Esack highlights a common issue which I would hope should have been covered by the training practice in advance. A simple electronic 'help' message might enable her covering person to know advice is wanted. Are things getting more complicated though, with prescribed length of sessions for both the learner and non-partner covering, plus the need to cover an increasing number of learners, be they GP registrars, PAs, or other non-medical learners now embedded in primary care if I may assume that all patients are discussed at least in the first few months of training, and this means staying late, is that still a normal part of working life or unacceptable contract breach.
