The research clarified that pulse oximetry could be used effectively in primary care settings and reduce anxiety, leading to better health care during the pandemic.1 As digital devices in health care are permeated generally, people can monitor their health conditions easier than in the past. People with high literacy can improve their health conditions with digital devices effectively.
Older people with low health literacy need help to use digital devices effectively. The previous article shows that the older population might have tremendous difficulty using information and communication technologies during the COVID-19 pandemic.2,3 Regarding digital devices, the same thing could happen. This study focuses on young to middle-aged people, so the perceptions of older people regarding digital devices should be investigated regarding the usage of pulse oximetry in depth. Especially isolated older people should be investigated because they cannot get help from their surroundings and relatives.2 In preparation for the next pandemic, effective facilitation of the usage of digital devices among older people should be driven and investigated as research.
