YR 1981 UL http://bjgp.org/content/31/226/303.abstract AB It is argued that the type of local specialist services and the extent of their use are largely the outcome of negotiations between general practitioners and their patients. A study was carried out on behalf of a health care planning team for the mentally ill to discover whether more mental illness services would help general practitioners manage their difficult patients. The findings led to some developments in problem-oriented services but not mental illness services in general.
